Understanding Dementia

This is a free CEU course led by Kate Race of Assisting Hands Home Care.
Participants in this session will learn about the definition, the symptoms, and the progression of dementia. They will also be able to distinguish between normal signs of aging and dementia-related memory problems and will gain insights into the prevalence and demographic impact of dementia diagnoses. Kate will explore various tools for diagnosing and assessing dementia, including the Mini-Mental Exam (MMSE), SLUMS Exam, and Clock Drawing Test. She will also help attendees learn to differentiate between depression, dementia, and delirium and understand the overlapping symptoms and how to identify conditions accurately.
Kate Race is the Regional Director of Business Development for Assisting Hands, a PAC Certified Trainer, and an Alzheimer’s Association Support Group Leader.
